As part of working towards their World Challenge Award, Haddenham Scouts have had fun drumming, tasting Ghanaian food and collecting items for Alfan.
On the first session with the scouts, Alfons and Annie led a presentation about the charity and along with the Haddenham scout leaders, were deeply impressed by the attention, interest and thoughtful questions.
Alfan were amazed at the second session to see the amount of items donated, from books, and toys to clothes and a children's bike. The scouts learnt more about Ghana: the cocoa plant, its many uses and about some of the food that is eaten. They had a taste, or two or three of Ghanaian food and a chance to play the drums.
Amongst the many enthusiastic comments: "Best chicken ever!", and of jollof rice and coming up for a third round: "I love this rice", "It's amazing!"
It was great evening and wonderful for the scouts to get involved, learn new things and have new experiences. The items collected will be sent to Ghana in the next couple of weeks and will return to the scouts to show them how the resources are being used.
